Maggie’s place was great and just what we needed for the 2024 Solar Eclipse! Large spaces inside and out which was perfect for the family that we had to stay with us. Great exterior: deck, fire pit, and large front area to hang out in, and it was close to restaurants and the river. 3 bedrooms provided ample beds for all the adults and kiddos, and had an extra loft which we used. The bathrooms were surprisingly large, and Maggie provided the linens and towels we rented so we had everything we needed for our stay. Thanks for a great place!

Over all great experience little things here and there. The king mattress was a little hard . Missed the no towels and linen caption and struggled with that. The tv did not really work so did not watch any movies it would pause thought and could not troubleshoot it. Other than that was a great experience.

This home was above and beyond our expectations! Maggie was very welcoming and provided us with the information needed to be comfortable during our stay. We had a great experience!

Beautiful place and you’re paying for location. Sadly, the river was too low to float this year but it was a fantastic trip nonetheless! As for the house…it’s spacious and homely. There are no closets and the dressers are more for decoration. I think for a long stay you’re living out of a suitcase because there’s no where to put clothes. Other than that the rooms and beds are decent. The kitchen oven needs to be replaced. The racks inside of it don’t fit that oven and if you’re not careful…they’ll drop…possibly losing your dinner. Bathrooms are nice and the porch and fire pit areas are perfect for gatherings. All in all it was a great stay and my family loved it!

Nice location, very convenient! We just had badly stained bedding, a broken door handle and towel rack. Also, we were given the wrong entry code, so had to wait a bit, especially considering you don’t have internet there. Codes should be sent before you arrive

This place was amazing. I can't say enough of how much we enjoyed our stay and how understanding Maggie was on all situations. I would recommend Casa Rio Hideaway to all my friends/family and can't wait for our next visit.

"Hideaway Gem"

We were looking for a short getaway for just our immediate family that was in a private location but not too far from conveniences. This hideaway did not disappoint!

The river is not too far away and the free parking passes included were helpful. Restaurants, bars and even an ice cream spot were just a few minutes drive away. Everything needed to stay-in and fix a complete meal were right there on hand, even a bar-b-que pit. Our favorite was the large fire-pit. Recommend you bring lots of firewood (its available to be purchased at the near by ice-houses, but its expensive around there).

Would definitely stay here again!!!

"Great Location"

The check-in process was wonderful and Maggie was great getting us all set. The property was perfect for a quiet stay during the off-season and we really liked that the house was off the main road a few hundred feet. So you felt secluded. We also liked the corner store was within walking distance and we walked to the river the day we got there. Excellent spot for a smaller group.

it's a great place

When booking this home, you can expect a home that is not professionally cleaned but rather left in the condition that the previous tenants left it in.

In our case, the previous tenants left rotting trash in the house, the floors were dirty and comforters dirty.

Because you bring your own linens, towels and management depends on previous guest to clean the house I don’t personally understand why there’s a cleaning fee.

We did bring our issues up to management when we arrived, however their response was that we were basically making the smell up & “I guess we should get a professional cleaning crew”. After the complaint we received no follow up from management if the issue was resolved

For perspective, we were a group of 8 women in town for a womens retreat weekend. We travel well and often and for the price of the home, we expected a cleaned home that didn’t smell. That was not our case unfortunately.

On the positive, the house was in a great location by the river. AC & hot water worked great!

The location was great. My favorite part about this location was the huge fire pit and the fact that the owner left fire neatly stacked there for us upon arrival.

My family and friends were in Uvalde for a dove hunting weekend and needed lodging. We hunted in the morning and afternoon which didn't leave us much time for local activities. The house was just the right size for our group and very accommodating.

All the local entertainment is very close by making this for a very convenient and fun getaway. We had an awesome bachelor party thank you!!!!

We did not have any issues at all through out our stay but have no doubt they would have been right out to help correct any issues if needed. "It’s cold outside"

Nice stylish home with outdoor fire pit. Bring your own fire wood. Clean, had 1 light bulb out and another went out during stay. No big deal. Everything seemed to work great for us. Frio river access is about a half mile away or so and you can walk to concrete river crossing but you can’t get off bridge because the land at river is privately owned. But you can walk down the river which was nice. I would recommend it for family that wants to see lots of deer and cooks Shmores at fire pit. Private setting set back away from road which makes it really nice. About 50% of final cost is added on by fees, service charges, taxes, etc. and you will add a small county tax to cost which is not included in Vrbo calculations... Enjoyed the trip.. beautiful wood theme inside home!!!...

We stayed with 2 other families and we enjoyed our time. The house was big enough to accommodate all of us. We enjoyed being so close to nature, we even enjoyed the river. We took advantage and took family pictures there. We would highly recommend this home to anyone who wants to get away.

Stayed for a weekend and loved this place! Pictures don't really give the value of this place! Everything was excellent, location was perfect near the river and having that store next door was a plus! Garner state park 10 minutes was perfect. House was beautiful, clean, and very comfortable! Our boys had a blast all day outside playing and making smores at night by the pit. We will be back again soon! The only thing I disliked about this place is all the extra fees compared to other homes here in VRBO. Other than that it perfect!

Our family loved this property. It was tucked in away from the road so it was quiet with lots of wildlife. The space was large enough for 10 adults to sleep comfortably and the outdoor space was huge! We were able to sit outside every evening and enjoy the space. There is also a very nice grill onsite and fire pit.

Awesome cabin on the frio. Very spacious. Insanely convenient- was right next to convenience store with ice and amenities, and walkable to and from the water. Parking passes / location that were included were also very convenient. Couldn’t be happier with our stay!

We may have gotten a little lost on our way to the cabin , but Derrick found us and we realized the sign was right outside but we had missed it!

When we first pulled up the property we were pleasantly surprised at how wooded and secluded it was even though it was so close to the main rd. The amenities were great...loved the updated log cabin feel on the inside and the overall outside of the cabin as well. We went during our Thanksgiving holiday so the weather was ideal. Enjoyed stargazing and barbqing and even the occasional deer watching.

This cabin is great for a large family gathering. We had 3 families together, and there was plenty of space for everyone. The only thing that could have potentially been a problem is that HomeAway lists the property as having beds for 17 people. It actually only has beds for 14.

The sleeping arrangements were exactly what they are advertised to be. The description says sleeps 17 however the couch does not fold out into a bed so if you include the couch and loveseat in the count there’s 16 places but doubling up every bed except for the twins. Maggie was wonderful!!!

House is very nice. I really liked that it was not right on the road. Had deer in the yard every day and sitting out on the porch listening to the birds was such a nice start to the day. House nicely furnished and well equipped kitchen. Would certainly rent this property again. If Frio had been running deeper, the trip would have been perfect!!
